AI-Powered Receipt Scanning and Organization System Demo
Demonstrates an automated system that scans receipts, extracts text with OCR, and uses AI to classify and organize them for easy searching.

What you’re seeing here is my iPhone and the way that I record receipts and other important pieces of paper. I take a picture of the paper with my phone and it instantly gets uploaded to cloud storage. As you can see, I’ve been doing this for a while, but it’s only recently that AI has been involved. If I navigate down into the 2025 folder and into March, you can see the receipts is straight away. If I open it up, all of the text has been recognized and it’s now selectable and searchable. The name’s automatically being defined and AI has identified this as a retail receipt and it’s found some key pieces of information, including the retailer and the item purchased. This sort of approach makes it really easy in the future to be able to find this receipt when I have to. So next time I want to find this receipt, I can do a search for wetken, in my scans folder, and here are the two historical receipts, and that’s the one we scanned today. A lot of times we think about AI as a generative model. In this case, though, it’s an analytical approach. It’s looked at the content to do classification and organization of information.
